Mental Health Impacts

Social and Relationship Difficulties: Emotional unavailability, challenges with self-disclosure, and difficulties forming or maintaining healthy relationships are common consequences.

Trauma Responses: The feeling of powerlessness in a controlling environment is a form of trauma, leading to behaviors like exerting control over small details to create a sense of safety and predictability.

What Is a Controlling Environment?
A controlling environment is one where an individual’s autonomy and choices are constantly restricted by others. This can manifest as:

Parental Intrusion: Overbearing pressure, micromanagement, or deciding things for a child or adolescent.

Emotional Manipulation: Using tactics like guilt, threats, or isolation to maintain dominance and suppress individuality.

Lack of Autonomy: A significant lack of personal freedom and choices, creating feelings of powerlessness.

All we ask is that you surrender your babies and infants to the “unified beliefs” of the congregation. An environment where the faithful will mold and shape their thoughts with reaffirming dependency on the rules, traditions, and guidance of God’s little flock.
